Food Lion will be open on Memorial Day 2024.
The chain is currently offering a four-day sale, which runs from Friday, May 24, through Monday, May 27, 2024.
Select items are BOGO, or Buy-One-Get-One-Free for MVP account members, while dozens of barbecue and cookout staples are also on sale.
Food Lion will be one of many grocery stores remaining open over the holiday weekend and on Monday, but there is a catch.

The popular supermarket chain closes its doors on three major federal holidays:
- Easter Sunday
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day

Select Food Lions may be open for a few hours on Thanksgiving, with certain locations open for business between 7 am and 3 pm.
The chain does close early on Christmas Eve, so shoppers need to make sure they stock up on everything they need before 6 pm.
Most Food Lion stores also close their doors a little early on New Year's Eve, shutting down at around 8 pm instead of its normal 11 pm closing time.
Food Lion is, however, open throughout the summer, and for major summer holidays including Labor Day and the 4th of July.

Who founded Food Lion?
Food Lion was founded in 1957 in Salisbury, North Carolina.
The supermarket chain was founded by Wilson Smith, Ralph Ketner, and Brown Ketner, and originally called Food Town.
Ralph Ketner later served as the chain's President, CEO, chairman, and Chairman Emeritus.
Though initially independently owned, Food Town was acquired in 1974 by the Delhaize Group, and officially changed its name and branding to Food Lion in 1983.
In 1997, the supermarket chain unveiled its mascot and logo, Leo the Food Lion.
Food Lion is currently owned by Ahold Delhaize, a Dutch-Belgian retail and wholesale company.
